What is Trailwalker?

Trailwalker is an annual charity footrace along the 100km MacLehose trail in Hong Kong's New Territories. It raises millions of dollars for Oxfam which spends it on development aid around the world.

Since 1986, participants have raised more than HK$500 million according to Oxfam.

Hikers follow this weaving trail through wild jungle, past beaches and even taking in views of the forest of skyscrapers across Hong Kong from the course’s highest point, Tai Mo Shan.

How high do they climb?

Even though the highest peak is 957 metres, the total vertical climb and descent along the trail is about 5,900m up and 6,025m down. That's higher than the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
