Hong Kong has leased parts of the new West Kowloon station to mainland China’s immigration and customs authorities, which have full jurisdiction there. Select a travel direction below to see how the plan will work.

Passengers arrive by train and go from the platform on level B4 up to B2.

Departing passengers enter the station at level B1, pass ticket checks and take an escalator or lift to B3. After passing Hong Kong customs they enter the mainland jurisdiction area for passport checks.

They follow the path marked by the dots to mainland China border clearance officers. Passengers then leave mainland jurisdiction to pass Hong Kong customs and a ticket check before leaving the station.

Once cleared for entry to mainland China passengers may enter the waiting area or head to platforms on level B4 to board trains.
