SHOUSON HILL
Rising above Deep Water Bay next to Wong Chuk Hang,
Shouson Hill’s lush, winding roads lead to gated
mansions, grand townhouses and luxury low-rise
apartments, and also offers stunning vistas of the
Southside and its coastline. The hill carries a
wartime history as the site of a British military
bunker and sentry post. The underground military
structures have since been declared a Unesco
heritage site and repurposed as a wine storage
facility, while the area itself is now known as the
stomping grounds for Hong Kong’s most rich and
famous.

BÉTHANIE CHAPEL
This collection of heritage buildings in Pok Fu
Lam is an architectural marvel, featuring high
ceilings, stained glass and arched windows done in
19th century neo-gothic style. Originally built as
Hong Kong’s first sanatorium in 1875, Béthanie was
restored to its former glory by the Hong Kong
Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), with that
work completed in 2006. The revitalised complex
now serves as an HKAPA campus, comprising a
chapel, theatre and screening room. There is also
a museum where visitors can learn more about
Béthanie’s rich history.
