46 athletes who flew the flag for Hong Kong at the Tokyo Olympics
Hong Kong had never gone to an Olympics with so many genuine medal contenders and with such high expectations. Despite the Tokyo 2020 Games being delayed by a year because of Covid-19, the city's athletes continued to train, mostly in isolation, and compete where possible on the world stage.
The second-biggest delegation to an Olympics was made up of 46 athletes, including two table tennis reserves, and was spearheaded by London 2012 bronze medallist Sarah Lee Wai-sze (cycling). Swimmer Siobhan Haughey, fencer Vivian Kong Man-wai and karate exponent Grace Lau Mo-sheung were also in the running for individual medals, while Wong Chun-ting and Doo Hoi-kem were favoured to go far in the mixed doubles team event. Here are the 46 athletes who represented Hong Kong in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8.

History of Hong Kong at the Olympics
Hong Kong's first appearance was at the Helsinki 1952 Summer Games, with a swimming team comprised of Cynthia Eager, Cheung Kin-man, Francisco Monteiro and Irene Kwok as the city's sole representatives. Since then, a total of 480 athletes have represented Hong Kong at the Summer Olympics.
