America at crossroads:
Harris’ and
Trump’s paths to power collide
Kamala Harris and Donald Trump offer contrasting visions for America’s future, and their paths to power are equally distinct. Harris, the 2024 Democratic nominee and US vice-president is a former prosecutor, California attorney general and senator. If elected in the November 5 election, Harris would become the second black president and first black woman, and first person of South Asian descent in office. Former president Trump, the Republican nominee known for his unconventional entry into politics, is seeking a return to power after losing the 2020 election. If victorious, he would become the second US president to serve two non-consecutive terms.
